Brief background on Walied Soliman: he is a big-time corporate lawyer. He is the Chair of Norton Rose, sometimes he’s chair of the whole global Norton Rose (I think there’s an annual election). His practice is called “Special Situations.” It's something he started from scratch within Norton early in his career. Hostile deals, fighting off activist investors, that sort of thing. He represented one of the sisters in the Rogers family and boardroom drama of a few years ago. His side totally lost! I was going to say he choked like a dog, but Walied doesn’t argue cases. Sad! That case was in BC anyways, Walied is only at the Ontario bar. He's a bosom buddy of Wes Hall, of proxy advisory firm Kingsdale, their respective practices have obvious synergies. I wrote earlier about a deal of theirs that had to file for creditor protection.
